Change is coming to City Hall.

This October, we’re going to see new faces around the table at Burlington City Hall. Incumbent councillors in two wards are leaving to run for Mayor, while others are facing spirited challenges from everyday citizens stepping up to lead.

My name is Kyle Hutton, a longtime resident of Brant Hills with a passion for the environment, data-driven ideas, and a fairer society.

We know our community is falling behind - prices are up for food and gas, affordable housing is out of reach for many, and our poverty rate has climbed steadily since the pandemic. While none of this is unique to Burlington, we’re seemingly unable to keep up with the solutions so far put on the table.

I believe we need a fresh perspective at City Hall. Ward 3 has an amazing opportunity to send someone with a different view of the problems and pressures we’re facing, someone who won’t hesitate to embrace new ideas to remove the barriers facing families, seniors, workers, and small businesses as they strive to do better.

My guiding philosophy while engaging in politics is simple: solutions over ambition. I’ve spent my career working as an advocate for people and the planet, pushing forward good ideas regardless of partisanship or ego. After all, successfully protecting our environment and solving the cost-of-living crisis has always required our representatives working together - which is why I’m eager to get to work with my fellow Councillors at City Hall following October 26th.
