Meet Kyle
A Burlingtonian dedicated to advancing people and planet before profit.
I’ve lived in Burlington most of my life. My family first moved here in 2002, where I briefly attended Central Public School before settling in at Rolling Meadows and eventually MM Robinson as a Brant Hills resident.
I grew up with a single mother who raised me to always be empathetic and grandparents who were small business owners from Oakville and taught me the value of community. Like many families we faced good times and bad, but we always knew we could rely on each other.
In 2008, I jumped into politics and joined my first campaign as a volunteer for former Member of Parliament Paddy Torsne andlearned I had a love for listening and discussing issues of the day with voters on their doorsteps. I have always enjoyed hearing other perspectives, debate, and trying to find points of agreement, though always staying true to my own values. I turned this passion into a local career, serving as a volunteer on various local campaigns, then as a campaign manager for municipal and federal campaigns, before eventually running myself in the 2022 provincial election for the Ontario Greens.
I believe in people-powered politics. As a Canadian, I know that we’re at our best when we come together to help our neighbours when they’re in trouble. As an environmentalist, I know we’re never going to solve climate collapse without getting everyone on board with the necessary changes. When I engage with people, I’ve always done so with the goal of having an open and honest conversation, and believe the day we can no longer do that is the day politics is truly broken.
Many feel like that’s already true, but the conversations I’ve had at the doors in Burlington tell me otherwise. Canadians are invested in creating a better future, but they’re rightfully despairing at the state of politics today. My goal is to show that we can still have representatives dedicated to pushing issues forward, and we can reach that better future together.
I attended Sheridan College for General Arts & Sciences, which nurtured deep passions in me for history and sociology, and through my grandfather I learned to love the factual nature of geology and other physical sciences. In my spare time, I’m an avid student of astronomy and climatology.
Most of my career was spent working for a small business in Oakville, but my current role is with a non-profit focused on helping community organizations find better ways to utilize available data and resources to connect with supporters, with a focus on utilizing large datasets and prediction modeling. I’ve previously worked in the polling industry, and I’m actively engaged in the election model community, often through a data-focused lens. My work has been used by organizations ranging from journalists to political parties to university professors, and you can see most of my recent work through my Substack linked here.
You can often find me walking around my neighbourhood with my dog Snuffles.
