An Advocate For People & Planet -
And Data
I’m Kyle Hutton, a longtime resident of Burlington, Ontario with a passion for geography, sociology, and politics. I’ve spent years working with a variety of datasets and tools to produce interesting visualizations and models for both public use and organizations. Some recent collaborations include Philippe Fournier of 338Canada, and Curtis Fric of Polling Canada. I currently work in the non-profit sector helping community-focused groups make better use of datasets to reach current and new supporters.
Outside of my work, I am an active member of the Green Party, including running as candidate in several elections. I currently sit as a member of the Provincial Executive for the Green Party of Ontario, and have acted as volunteer, strategist, and campaign manager for local campaigns in the Halton and Hamilton area.
In my campaigns, I’ve run consistently on several values and issues, and to this day I continue to find ways to push the needle on them a little bit forward when I can. Those values are:
Bringing down the cost of housing through common sense density over expensive sprawl;
Pushing back against environmental destruction by going after irresponsible industries and profiteers;
Ending creeping privatization of healthcare and basic services which will further burden everyday people;
Advocating for community-focused representation, and moving away from government-by-consultant;
Standing up for my beliefs regardless of whether its popular to do so.
